The Florange Digital Lab focuses primarily on three areas: quality 4.0, data intelligence and predictive maintenance.
  • MétaFensch is a public research and development centre working in the field of metal production and the circular economy. It defines and carries out collaborative research projects aimed at removing the initial technological barriers to industrial projects in France and supports the industrialization of these projects.

THE U4 IS A LISTED BUILDING (INVENTAIRE SUPPLÉMENTAIRE DES MONUMENTS HISTORIQUES) AND IS THE LAST OF 6 BLAST FURNACES AT THE UCKANGE PLANT, WHICH CLOSED IN 1991. TODAY, IT IS ONE OF THE FEW SURVIVING EXAMPLES OF 20TH CENTURY STEELMAKING IN FRANCE.

Since 2008, the Val de Fensch Agglomeration Community has been spearheading new momentum for the area, with the creation of a business park dedicated to scientific innovation and entrepreneurship.

Following the establishment of the METAFENSCH research institute in 2014 and the ARCELOR MITTAL Digital Lab in 2021, several buildings at
the former Uckange plant and building plots are now available for your future project.

The U4 business park has:

• six business plots located in the immediate vicinity of the former general warehouses, now home to the Val de Fensch Metallurgy Institute (MétaFensch). Each plot is free of construction and has a connection at the edge of the plot to the various networks (electricity, water, HSBB, etc.).
• several buildings at the former Uckange plant.

DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL:

Hotel and catering, university education, training, digital technology and the circular economy linked to industry are the core targets for this area.
