A dynamic industrial territory

The chemical and advanced materials sector represents 18,700 jobs, including 2,200 in Moselle.

The region is marked by heavy industry, which has developed advanced know-how in the materials sector, thanks to a strong R&D and training dynamic serving the industry.

The CHEMESIS international industrial platform in Carling-Saint-Avold, classified as a SEVESO site, specializes in specialty chemicals and the production of polymers for high added value applications.

It is composed of 10 industrial companies, 1,200 direct employees and 3,500 induced jobs. Among the companies present are: TOTALENERGIES, ARKEMA and ALTUGLAS (INEOS nearby), etc.

The region also attracts big names in materials processing such as ARCELORMITTAL, SCHMOLZ+BICKENBACH, CONTINENTAL, SAARSTAHL, LES BRONZES D’INDUSTRIE, SETFORGE, FERCO, PLASTIVALOIRE, AMCOR and SOPREMA.

Environmental transition and green chemistry

New locations are focused on ecological transition and green chemistry with AFYREN NEOXY, METABOLIC EXPLORER, SNF, QUARON.

Moselle is home to the MATERALIA competitiveness cluster, which is committed to coordinating the industry and is supported by numerous technology transfer platforms (IRT M2P, METAFENSCH, INSTITUT DE SOUDURE, ISEETECH, etc.).

Several internationally renowned research and technology transfer centers are located there, including the largest research center in the world belonging to the ARCELORMITTAL group. As well as the WELDING INSTITUTE, the CREYVALLEY hydrocarbon resin reference center, etc.

In addition, the region is rich in training courses adapted to the needs of industry (UNIVERSITY OF LORRAINE, UIMM LORRAINE training center, ARTS & METIERS PARISTECH, etc.).
