First French region for automotive equipment

At the heart of the Grand Est, Moselle is the leading French region for automotive equipment, and of the cross-border Grande Région. This sector represents 450,000 employees, 2,500 companies and nearly 2 million vehicles produced. The automotive industry provides more than 20,000 jobs in Moselle.

THE WORLD'S LEADING EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS

Moselle is home to the world’s leading equipment manufacturers: CONTINENTAL, ZF, MAGNA, THYSSENKRUPP, PANASONIC, CLARIOS, RHEINMETALL…

The Moselle region has more than 140 small and medium-sized subcontractors from rank 1 to rank 3, which generate 10% of their turnover from the automotive industry (excluding logistics). These companies will be exporting over 4 billion euros worth of automotive products and equipment by 2021.
Moselle has a number of major manufacturers in its territory:

  • STELLANTIS, with the world’s largest engine and diesel plant / gearbox. It is also the leading private employer in Moselle, investing in electrification
  • INEOS AUTOMOTIVE which will launch the Grenadier in 2022
  • PIERBURG is a leading automotive supplier. It manufactures water, oil and vacuum pumps. Its research center specialized in engine cooling systems is also located in France
